The Art of
Cole Vittetoe
Bio
A lifelong sports fan, I am obsessed with hockey. I actively participate in an adult recreational ice hockey league, and enjoy watching the Boston Bruins. My artwork is a reflection of this passion for the sport. In particular, I am fascinated with the aesthetics of jerseys, logos, and equipment. I work in a wide variety of materials including predominately oil paints, watercolor, graphite, and pen. In recent years, I've begun incorporating printmaking and sculpture into my repertoire.
I was born in 1982 in Nevada, MO. For most of my live, I have lived in the southwestern Missouri and northeastern Oklahoma areas. I consider Wyandotte, OK to be my hometown, having graduated from high school there in 2001. I received my BA from Oklahoma State University in 2007. Soon afterwards I began teaching middle school in Tulsa, and then high school art in Okemah, OK. I took a hiatus from teaching in 2013 to attend graduate school at Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi in Corpus Christi, TX. I received an MA in Studio Art from the university in December 2014. I currently teach art at Lakeville North High school, and reside in Eagan, MN along with my wife Casey, and children, Elliott & Autumn.
